I am a native Chicagoan who grew up just a couple miles north of All Saints’. In January 2006 I was a newspaper reporter who went to a funeral at All Saints’ in search of a story and instead found my church home.
I have dabbled in ushering, joined All Saints’ gun violence vigils and walks, and far too seldom helped out on Tuesday nights. I have also enjoyed supporting an All Saints’ party and dancing with my church friends. This community inspires and nurtures me daily.
My husband, David Brummer, and I are ever grateful that our daughter, Olivia, a college freshman grew up in this church. Here she learned that religion is a verb, that social justice work is just another way we break bread together, and that a good Christmas pageant will carry you through most of the year. Just don’t stop believin.’
I work as the Director of Communications for a large suburban district. My time on the vestry has been a blessing and I look forward to deepening my relationships with All Saints’ friends and continuing to support this holy place on Hermitage Avenue.
