Dear Friends,
We are about to enter the hinge of the Christian year: Holy Week. This is the week when we slow down to follow the steps of Jesus day by day from the triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through the mandatum that we love one another and the institution of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, to the Way of the Cross and the Passion remembered on Good Friday, the grief and silence of Holy Saturday, and the celebration of Resurrection at the Vigil (with baptisms!) on Saturday night and Easter morning. These are the events that animate our faith, that changed the structure of the universe.
Christ’s passion is at the center of our faith and continues wherever there is persecution; resurrection continues wherever there is love. This week, we hold together all the passion and death and hope of this world and of our faith. You don’t want to miss a minute.
Faithfully, Suzanne+
